TALENT

Notorious with Betsy Branch

With Eden MacAdam-Somer due to deliver her first baby in June, Notorious bandmates Larry Unger, Sam Bartlett and Mark Hellenberg have invited fiddler Betsy Branch down from Portland to rock the weekend with them. Notorious co- founders Larry (guitar and banjo) and Eden (fiddle) played for the first Faultline Frolic in 2004, Sam joined them on mandolin the next year, and Pokey on percussion the following. The band has since become a must-have for any weekend looking to cook up an unforgettable dance experience for discriminating gypsies everywhere. The 2016 iteration is sure to sizzle, so join us to dance, dine and sign the cards sending best wishes to Eden and family from the Faultline community.

Paddy Ryan’s Dream

Saturday morning dancing features bandleader Chris Knepper on fiddle and mandolin (maybe guitar too), Anne Goess on fiddle, and Charlie Hancock on keyboard and accordion. Bay Area dancers love this band for all the right reasons.

Cis Hinkle

Who doesn’t love Cis? She knows how to serve up fun for the most experienced dancer and the tenderest newbie. Hailing from Atlanta but in demand throughout the nation, the spritely Cis makes it look easy to put a hall full of dancers through their paces with her masterful combination of dozens of dances, clear but unobtrusive calling (she knows you’re there for the music), and a keen eye for line rescue should it ever be needed. And she shares a June birthday with Pokey!

Warren Blier

Warren Blier is from the Monterey area. He has been calling contras regularly since 1997. Warren is known for his quick, clear teaching, and his great selection of dances.

Information

Location

Known and loved by dancers throughout Sonoma County and beyond, we’ve been told that Monroe Hall has the finest dance floor in all of Northern California! The hall boasts a beautiful maple floor — originally laid in 1947. The floor offers resiliency due to its premium construction and a twice-yearly treatment with lemon oil. The ambience of the hall harkens back to a time of comfort and grace – and reflects its history as a social hall (starting in 1922). While resting between sets, dancers can gaze at the original warm redwood walls lined with horseshoes from mules, oxen, and horses; a collection of square nails, painted saw blades, old farm equipment, antique fire extinguishers and much more.

Directions

Monroe Hall is located at 1400 W. College Ave., Santa Rosa

Food

Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast will be provided at the hall as well as a variety of refreshments during the weekend. Saturday dinner features Michael Martin’s homegrown salad greens and locally-sourced tamales. Sunday breakfast includes organic multigrain pancakes, local fresh fruit, and sausages. A list of nearby places to eat will be at the Hall.

Attractions

Please ask us for specific suggestions for North Bay delights beyond dancing — like hikes, picnics and wine tasting, to round out your vacation.

Fragrance Free Policy

Faultline Frolic is a "Fragrance Free" event. Please do not use scented products (cosmetics, cleaners, and personal hygiene items). Chemicals used in perfumes and fragrances cause allergic reactions in some of our dancers. In consideration of our valued dancing friends who are affected, please come scent free.
